Who coined slow productivity?
The term “slow productivity” was coined and popularized by American computer scientist and author Cal Newport. He introduced the concept in 2024 in his book Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout.
Newport offers a counter-philosophy to modern hustle culture. He achieved this by creating three principles: do fewer things, work at a natural pace, and obsess over quality.
